This is a common and widely used general enriched seawater medium designed for growing coastal marine algae. The concentration of the original formulation, termed "f Medium" (Guillard and Ryther 1962), has been reduced by half.

Our seawater bottling and treatment process:

  1. Seawater is collected from Scripps Oceanography seawater system.
  2. Water is filtered through 1uM filter
  3. Water is treated with ozone, then aged for 30 days
  4. Water is treated with UV before bottling
  5. Nutrients are added to seawater
  6. Second UV treatment
  7. Seawater is Bottled

The default is WITHOUT silica.  Please comment if you would like it with silica (for diatoms and other silica requiring organisms).
