Role Description

This is a part-time on-site position located in Vista, CA (full time may be considered for the right candidate). As a Laboratory Technician, in Algae, you will be responsible for daily maintenance and upkeep of laboratory equipment, culture preparation, and monitoring and controlling algae and zooplankton growth. Additional responsibilities include data collection and analysis, and various laboratory tasks. As a key member of the team, the Laboratory Technician will work closely with the research team to ensure smooth operation of the lab.   

Qualifications

  • Education: Currently studying or have a degree in Biology, Ecology, Oceanography, or a related field. Equivalent hands-on experience in a laboratory setting may be considered.
  • Previous experience with algal culturing techniques and laboratory equipment (preferred)
  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks in a time-efficient manner.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Google
  • Ability to work under controlled conditions and follow laboratory safety protocols.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Positive attitude, with a passion for continuing education and a desire to contribute to research in the field of algae and cyanobacteria.

Compensation. 

$18-$21 per hour.
