Algae Photosynthesis vs. Irradiance Curves
A Photosynthesis vs Irradance Curve (P vs I ) is a graphical representation of the relationship between light irradiance and photosynthesis.
Reading up on Michaelis-Menten curve is good way to begin to understand this relationship.
In general a P vs I curve shows that with more light, there is more photosynthesis... until the plant becomes saturated with light.
Plotted along the x-axis is the independent variable, light intensity (irradiance). On the y-axis is the dependent variable, photosynthetic rate (often [oxygen], new biomass, pH, ATP, NADPH, [CO2]).
